dismantling an i-pod

this is my time to explore my engineering side, being a student of engineering and science almost all of my life. with the help from tomasso toffoli, i am trying to repair my silver mini i-pod that was spilled with starbucks coffee, excuse me, did i say spilled? it was actually drained shall i say. so the only thing that we needed was precision screwdriver set, and of all the available size, the o.6 mm was the only one that could be used.

so the first thing that we did was to open up the glued i-pod. with a simple instruction on how to change i-pod battery from the internet. voila, there was the hardrive, glued together with coffee stain. just from the stain, we could conclude that i was drinking caramel macchiato. then the dismantling begins, where we separated the touch pad, the battery, and all other small parts. we discharged the battery, whereas i look at the bulb connecting the discharger, hoping that the battery will fall down from 0.10 microvolt to at least reach 0.02 microvolt.

then i soaked the whole part into a mini space, cleaned the whole part with mini brush, and re-rinsing them for six times. it takes the whole patience that i could muster up. as edith piaf sang her whole songs, the whole four discs of them, i was too tired to even look at the whole battery wire. then my job of cleaning the battery wire begins, because there was a short sircuit since the battery was being charged while it was wet, causing copper to show up.

well that was pretty much the dismantling process, and as always, everyday is a learning process, and every single day i learn something new.
